UPS Wins Top Award for Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WEBENC) has named UPS to its "America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises." The award honors corporations for their world-class supplier diversity programs.

"These top 16 corporations demonstrate that buying from women results in innovation and growth," said Linda Denny, president and CEO of WEBENC. "By implementing strategic, enterprise-wide supplier diversity programs, they are rewarded with outstanding products and services that benefit their customers and their shareholders."

UPS has been recognized by WBENC every year since the awards was created nine years ago. Only two other companies have that honor.

UPS Wins Corporate Supporter Award from NAW

The Atlanta Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) named UPS its top corporate supporter.

The Corporate Supporter award recognizes "the corporation that supports, strengthens, and enhances the woman-owned business in the business community and serves as an incubator and/or showcase for the unique advantages and benefits women bring to business. This company advocates internal women-friendly policies and procedures by employing women in all levels of management in addition to seeking external business relationships with women owned businesses."

UPS Scores 100 Percent on Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index

UPS received a 100 percent score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2008 Corporate Equality Index, the first for the package and freight delivery industry.

The Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, is America's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization. The Corporate Equality Index is a tool used to measure how companies treat their GLBT employees, suppliers and customers.

UPS Named Corporation of the Year by the National Minority Supplier Development Council

UPS received the “Corporation of the Year” award, presented by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). The award, regarded as the most significant honor to a major corporation for using Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American suppliers, acknowledges UPS for its exemplary achievements in the area of minority business development.

UPS Exec Named Top 25 Power Women List

Teri McClure, UPS Senior Vice President of Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, was named by Atlanta Woman magazine to their list of Top 25 Power Women.

The award, which recognizes women who are influential in their industries and share exemplary leadership qualities and a successful professional and personal track record, was presented at an event in Atlanta.

In addition to her corporate responsibilities, McClure is a member of various bar associations and serves on the Boards of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Center for Working Families. She was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Georgia and will be serving on the Boards of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta as well as the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She also is active with many civic and professional organizations.

UPS Recognized by Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council

UPS received multiple honors from the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC). UPS was named Corporation of the Year, Executive of the Year and Advocate of the Year.

UPS Captures "The Voice" Award from WBENC

The Georgia Women's Business Council (GWBC), the local organization for Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), named UPS with "The Voice" award for its volunteer efforts to stregthen the role of women business enterprises and the women-owned business community.

UPS Exec is Outstanding Asian American in Business

Ken Lee, UPS Corporate Vice President of International Security, has received the 2006 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award from the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC).

The AABDC's award highlights the contributions of Asian American businesses to the economy and recognizes senior-level corporate executives for their outstanding achievements and leadership.

Lee has received numerous awards for his leadership and patronage in the Asian community. He is an advisor to "Chopstix for Charity" which raises money for Asian human service organizations in the Atlanta area. He also serves as honorary board advisor to the Association of Chinese Professionals and serves on the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce. He also is an active member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals in Atlanta.

UPS Named a Top Company for Diversity

UPS has been named to Black Enterprise magazine's list of "The 40 Best Companies for Diversity," which appears in the July 2006 edition.

In recognizing UPS, Black Enterprise cited the company's continued commitment to a multicultural environment indicative of its global reach. The magazine highlighted statistics including 70,000 African Americans in UPS's U.S. workforce, and minorities holding senior management positions and company board positions. Minorities also accounted for 50 percent of new hires last year.

UPS named one of America's most supportive companies of black and Hispanic engineering schools

UPS was recognized in 2006 as one of America's most supportive companies of both black and Hispanic engineer students by two independent surveys. The fourth annual survey by US Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine named UPS as a private sector organization supportive of historically black engineering schools in the United States.

A second survey, conducted by Hispanic Engineer and Information Technology magazine, ranked UPS in the top five private sector organizations supportive of engineering schools at America's Hispanic Serving Institutions.

UPS made both lists for their support, both financially and in-kind, to colleges supporting minority students at the country's top engineering schools.

UPS Captures WIPP Corporate Partner Award

UPS was honored with the 2006 Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Corporate Partner Award, which recognizes a company's proven support of women business owners. Since December 2004, UPS has underwritten several activities devoted to empowering women entrepreneurs, including WIPP's annual national survey, "What Business Women Want," as well as the organization's fall Public Policy and its spring leadership conferences.

UPS recognized as a Top Corporation for Multicultural Business Opportunities of 2005

UPS ranked 18 for Multicultural Business Opportunities of 2005 by over 500,000 women and minority business owners. Referred to as the Div50, this honor is an indicator of companies that provide the best and the most business for diversity-owned companies. The 6th annual list was produced by DiversityBusiness.com, the nation's leading multicultural B2B online portal. The voting business owners based their decisions on factors including volume, consistency and quality of business opportunities granted to women and minority-owned companies.

Latin Business recognizes UPS

Latin Business named UPS to their Corporate Diversity Honor Roll 2005. The second annual Honor Roll recognizes companies on the basis of such things as Hispanic or minority representation and supplier diversity.

Hispanic Network Magazine Recognizes UPS

Hispanic Network magazine named The UPS Store as one of the Top 10 Franchises for 2005, UPS as having a top Supplier Diversity program and Jovita Carranza as one of The Most Important Hispanics in Business and Technology, 2005.

UPS wins the Corporate Equality Achievement Award

UPS was recognized with the Corporate Equality Achievement Award by the Georgia Equality Board of Directors for steps taken towards bringing full equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual employees.

Black Professionals Magazine named UPS to Top 25 list

In August, Black Professionals magazine named UPS to its Top 25 Companies for African Americans list. The list was based on survey results from African Americans in senior and middle management, corporate boards; the type of corporate diversity programs in place, and overall workforce diversity initiatives.

Hispanic magazine names UPS to Corporate 100 list

In June, Hispanic magazine recognized UPS as being one of the top 100 companies that provide the most opportunities for Hispanics in their annual Corporate 100 listing. The list is based on the firms' diversity training, recruitment efforts, ethnic representation on their boards and other minority business initiatives. Funding provided for Latino-related scholarships, grants and philanthropic donations are also factored into the selection process, as is a company's overall image in the Hispanic community.

Hispanic magazine recognizes UPS in Top 50 Corporations for Supplier Diversity

In January, Hispanic magazine's Top 50 Corporations for Supplier Diversity list named UPS as one of the best companies to offer minority firms the opportunity to become one of their suppliers.
