100 Black Men of America

100 Black Men of AmericaFounded in 1963, 100 Black Men of America (100 BMOA) is a national alliance of leading African American men of business, industry, public affairs and government. The organization aims to improve the quality of life for our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans. 100 BMOA places particular priority upon increasing the intellectual development and economic empowerment of African American youth.

Through The UPS Foundation and volunteer efforts, UPS is an active supporter of 100 BMOA and its "leading by example" approach to confronting the challenges facing African American youth. Several UPSers serve among 100 BMOA's national officers, and many more as local and national committee members and volunteers.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Hispanic Scholarship FundThe Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) works directly with young Hispanics to provide one of the most important tools for leadership-a college degree.

HSF's mission is to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees from 9 percent to 18 percent by the year 2010. This mission is built on the belief that every Latino who gains a college degree becomes a powerful contributor to the economic and social strengthening of America. With help from individuals, corporations and foundations, including The UPS Foundation, HSF has granted 45,645 scholarships to Hispanic students totaling nearly $60 million. HSF's return on investment is nothing short of remarkable-97 percent of HSF scholars go on to attain their college degrees, 88 percent earn more than the national per capita median income and nearly 65 percent of HSF alumni commit time to public service.

NAACP

NAACPThe primary focus of the NAACP continues to be the protection and enhancement of the civil rights, the attainment of educational excellence, access to health care, and economic empowerment. The UPS Foundation supports many of the organization's education and career development initiatives, including ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics), a program which recognizes, rewards, and showcases academic and artistic excellence among minority high school students.

Many UPSers, from front-line package sorters to corporate managers, take an active role in volunteering their time and talents to the NAACP. Hundreds of UPSers from across the country attend the NAACP's annual convention to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the African American population. And many of our regions and districts work hand-in-hand with local NAACP chapters to replenish the UPS talent pool.

National Urban League

National Urban LeagueThe mission of the Urban League movement is to enable African Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity and civil rights. UPS's involvement with the League dates back to 1962, when The UPS Foundation provided its first grant to the organization.

Since that time, UPS's relationship with the National Urban League has grown significantly. In addition to strategic financial support from The UPS Foundation, the company is the largest participant in the League's Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP). Through BEEP, senior level African American executives and professionals serve as teachers, mentors and role models to college students attending historically black colleges and universities.
