Bringing the dream of a college education closer to reality is what UPS's School to Work programs are
all about. These programs incorporate classroom training, personal growth and real-world work
experience to help students successfully transition from high school and college to employment.
UPS has established a number of school-to-work programs around the country. These programs are tailored to meet
the educational and employment needs of each community. We develop relationships with colleges and non-profit
agencies in local areas to create a program that benefits the company and the surrounding community. Some
incorporate four-year colleges while others work with technical or trade schools.
High school students in the program work part-time for UPS in the afternoon or evening, and attend a college course
at a UPS facility twice a week. They take four hours of college class work on Friday, and six hours on Saturday. All
part-time UPS employees receive a starting wage of $8.50-$9.50 an hour and full health benefits, paid vacation and
a 401(k) plan.
After two years, these students will have earned more than a high school diploma. They'll have an associate's
degree, and all of their credits will transfer to an accredited college or university. In addition, they'll
have real-world work experience at a FORTUNE 100 company.
School to Work provides students with the education and work experience needed in today's competitive
workforce. The program also fulfills an important business need by providing UPS with an educated, committed
pool of employees. School-to-Work opens doors for America's youth and reinforces UPS' commitment to the community.
